Love from Micah

To prepare for this post, I read him the previous posts and showed him the pictures.  I then asked him what he wanted to share with you all.  Micah said “I want you to put in a picture of me and you at Disneyland because I love you.”  I didn’t have one of both of us at Disneyland, but here is one of him (appropriately Winter-y with Elsa and Anna):

When asked about other people who love him and who he loves, Micah said “some friends at church because I help out, and Jesus and Christmas because it’s Jesus’ birthday.”  Below is Micah’s writing practice – he wanted to write “Merry Christmas” to you all:

Lastly, Micah has been more interested this year in decorating for Christmas, and asking lots of questions about Santa, Jesus, Christmas Eve, etc.  Below are two things he colored.  The one just below he taped to our door “because I want you to see something beautiful every time you go in your room!”

Lots of love to all of you from Micah!  May we all take inspiration from his intentions to spread good cheer and God’s love to others through kind words, helping out, and creating and observing beauty.

December 1st

Clayton and I are camping in Little Basin this weekend. Waking up surrounded by redwoods and sequoias towering overhead is one of my favorite ways to start the day. In my tiny house, I don’t have enough space for a tree, just a single garland wrapped around the sleeping loft. Nevertheless, it felt essential to bring some greenery into my space this year–something fresh, hopeful, full of life. Newness that reminds me of the promise of advent, the defiant and improbable miracle of incarnation. This morning, instead of a token of this miracle, I woke up feeling surrounded by it. It had rained during the night and everything felt like it had been made new.

Our Virtual Advent Calendar

Hi family! For Advent this year, I thought we could each capture a day (or two!) leading up to Christmas. Feel free to post a snapshot of a moment in your day, a work of art, a poem, a joke, etc… anything you like! All ages are very welcome to participate– I know Owie can already make some great artwork. Looking forward to connecting with you and learning from you this Advent.

Please see our Advent Google Calendar for your special day and click here to post.
